RENEE MONTGOMERY’S NFT COLLECTION
Atlanta Dream co-owner and two-time WNBA Champion Renee Montgomery came to HEARTLENT Group to create her first NFT collection. Affectionately coined “The Starting Five,” the new collection is available for purchase at Opensea.
The NFT collection reflects Montgomery’s “Moments Equal Momentum” philosophy, showcasing meaningful events in her basketball career including her celebrated opt-out tweet, record setting 7 threes in a game and her historic career that features six championship rings.
HEARTLENT Group created five unique pieces, displayed in a virtual gallery up in the rafters of the “NFT Court” 3D space we created. We were able to celebrate her career without team affiliations by using her foundation and motto on her jersey. In addition we developed an animated NFT primer piece so her audience could become more knowledgeable about the space.
Proceeds received from the collection went to Renee’s non-profit foundation. Renee has emphasized the importance of getting women in sports to be more involved in the tech space and how this series was a great start.
The series was the first professional female athlete NFT series ever made, and caught the attention of the media and was covered by major outlets including Forbes, Yahoo Sports, and Just Women Sports.
“When I set out to create my NFT’s, part of what I wanted to do was help open up a new lane for women. Tech, crypto, gaming and NFT’s are the wave of the future and there’s not a lot of women in those spaces. I’m trying to change that,” said Montgomery. “I told my manager, Paul Guarino, that I wanted something that was really well designed and could tell the story of my career. We decided on five monumental moments that we are calling the Starting Five.”
